Are you interested in training your dog to be not only a pet but a guard dog? One must properly understand the role of a guard dog versus a personal protector to ensure training and functionality goals are met. A guard dog is used more for a business, to alert owners there is an intruder without command or provocation. While a personal protector is more intended for the city being a pet companion that will react on command rather than out of the blue. Not all dogs can be trained to be guard dogs, certain breeds such as Rottweilers and Dobermans for example are better suited with strong survival instincts and are not overly naturally friendly in disposition – remember a guard dog can we be a weapon. Check out this video with trainer Joe Rosen of JR’s Dog training for more information regarding guard dogs and their training.
